Going on vacation = Great!
Coming home from vacation = Tolerable.
Walking into a house filled with water after vacation = No Good!
What Happened?
It happens all too often. Your typical home, built in the 1980′s, used “rigid” water supply lines at the toilets and sinks. The lines are made from a light-weight flexible steel. The problem is they weaken at the bends over time. And all it takes is a momentary increase in water pressure, or an accidental impact from a mop, and ta-da: water damage.
That’s what happened to the Salazar family in Los Banos. To add further pain to the situation, the leak started in the 2nd floor bathroom, effectively flooding the 2nd floor and then moving to the first.
What Do We Do Now?
The first step in the repair was removing all the water-damaged materials to prevent further damage and mold growth. This task was expertly done by ServiceMaster Merced, who not only removed the water-damaged material, but also removed and protected the furnishings from further damage.
Once complete, ServiceMaster set fans and dehumidifiers to dry the structure and floor.
From there, we’re back to a fairly common construction project. Sound simple? If you have the right tools…
